Energy efficiency advantages

22 May 2018

Efficiency is not only a reduction of operating costs, but is an improvement of the whole company.

Energy Efficiency First” is the European Union’s motto that defines the “Clean energy for all Europeans” legislative package; this legislative framework guides the European energy transition by 2030 towards the achievement of the 30% of energy efficiency binding target.

Efficiency is not only a reduction of operating costs, this is the message left by the “The 10th energy efficiency in industries day – the 4.0 industry technologies evolution” conference that Cannon Bono Energia joined contributing with the memory “Efficiency in the paper mill: a smart solution for the thermal power plant “.

The investments in industrial energy efficiency  have the highest ratio of effectiveness / costs between all the actions that could be taken to reduce the use of hydrocarbon fuels. In addition to the positive impact on the company’s income statement, there is a real advantage for the environment: less use resources, therefore less harmful emissions released into the atmosphere.

Electricity and fuel consumption reduction, a green company image are the only advantages?

Much more: the company improves itself! This undoubted benefit is achieved thanks to all the “reflections” that industry is forced to make to achieve the goal of reducing emissions.

The introduction of new low energy consuming technologies modernizes plants and processes reducing maintenance costs, assuring reliability and higher safety for the operators. The implementation of smarter production processes, thanks to digitization, reduces waste and improves the product.

The objective of eliminating oil-based materials leads to a substantial re-examination of the product, and of the business itself.

Sustainability is not just a matter of image, therefore, but increases the value of the company and makes it more competitive on the market.

From this point of view, which criteria should guide the choices of an entrepreneur? The technology that costs less?

Certainly it should be preferred, especially in the case of industrial plants characterized by a useful life of over 20 years, technology that consumes less, more reliable and offered by a supplier able to continuously follow the system over time.
